This is a very technical post. It’s about the way we are deploying new versions of the Alpine Booking system to the thirty clubs that are currently using the system. Previously, each club had a copy of the source code in the webroot for their domain. These were deployed using rsync – the steps were as follows:
The most usual way to develop software is for the developer(s) to work on their personal computer, with a code repository mediating inputs from multiple developers, such as SVN or GIT. Even a solo developer might use a code repository to manage the code they are developing, to get reliable versioning and deployment tools.

WooCommerce is possibly the most commonly used shopping cart used with WordPress, it’s a free plugin. The way the items and catalogs display is determined by the particular WordPress theme that the site is using. Each theme will determine the sizes of various thumbnails and images throughout the WooCommerce pages.
The mobile/tablet web-app allows bookings (public if you allow them, as well as members). The app is now in use for clubs which have expressed an interest, and Paypal payments are supported – eWay coming soon. read more
Waitlist bookings invoicing is now handled a little differently. The problem occurred if a WAITLIST booking was changed to TENATITVE or CONFIRMED, then back to WAITLIST then back to TENTATIVE or CONFIRMED. This would happen when a booking is placed into WAITLIST in order to free up a room or rooms, to allow shuffling of bookings to exchange rooms. read more
